Overcoming Anxiety With Hypnosis
Overcoming anxiety is simple if you know a
few basic self hypnosis techniques. If you've never consider
using self hypnosis as
treatment for anxiety before,
but are currently struggling with panic attacks, stress or
other forms of anxiety disorders, hypnotherapy may be worth a
look. Those who have tried anxiety hypnosis had discovered a
natural and drug-free treatment to help them overcome their
anxiety problems and
reduce their stress.
According to William Ray, PhD, professor of
psychology at Penn State University “Today, there's general
agreement that hypnosis can be an important part of treatment
for some conditions, including
phobias, addictions and chronic pain.” Anxiety
is one of many conditions that are currently being treated with
self hypnosis techniques. Since hypnosis is non-invasive and
drug-free many scientists and physicians are looking to it as
an alternative to traditional medication treatments.
Anxiety is characterized by overwhelming
fear which can manifest as headaches, nausea, shortness of
breath and/or lightheadedness. People who suffer from anxiety
find themselves paralyzed with fear. These fears may or may not
be based in reality. Some people with anxiety experience
debilitating
panic attacks which leave them
in tears, and able to continue on with their daily tasks.
Hypnosis can help with overcoming anxiety
because it goes directly to the root of the problem. Anxiety is
something that is hardwired in our human brains. It's an
evolution of the flight or fight response that was important to
our survival of the species. However, now that we lead a faster
pace of life as a species we find anxiety and emotional stress
in day-to-day living.
Chronic panic attacks and other
symptoms of anxiety disorders
can be relieved with anxiety hypnosis.
Self hypnosis allows you to
re-wire your brain so that you can approach life in a more calm
manner. Ideally after practicing self hypnosis for some time,
you'll be able to redirect your emotional responses so that
you'll experience less stress and anxiety. You won't need to be
in a state of hypnosis is all the time in order to achieve
these benefits. You'll be able to take your experience from
your hypnosis sessions and use it to reduce stress
around-the-clock.
The key to coping with anxiety through
hypnosis is to learn how to get yourself into a
hypnotic state. This is a lot easier than it sounds.
You just need to start by sitting in a quiet place where there
will not be any distractions. Until you get the hang of it, you
may want to try doing this at home right before you go to bed.
Once you more experience, you'll be able to use self hypnosis
where ever you are.
Start by closing your eyes and breathing
deeply. This alone will help you rid yourself of stress and
anxiety, but there's more to the process. Before you get
started, think about the positive statements that you want to
impress upon your brain. This can be anything from "I am”
anxiety free" to "I am bigger than my anger."
Clear your mind to begin counting backwards very slowly from 10
to one. Tell yourself that when you reach one you'll be in a
highly suggestible state.
Once you've reached that point, repeat your
positive statement to yourself 10 times. Feel your body
absorbing the words. Imagine them being written across the wall
in front of you. After you've repeated this statement 10 times,
start counting slowly from one up to 10 again. Once you reach
10, you will feel refresh, relaxed and firmly implanted
with your new positive statement.
Overcoming anxiety doesn't
have to be something that requires drugs or expensive therapy.
With an open mind and some simple technique and dedication to
try self hypnosis, you'll be able to overcome your anxiety,
stress and panic attacks.
